I'm a D+ high school graduate who earned a bachelor's degree at a PROFIT - every semester I received more free money from scholarships, university grants, Federal Pell Grant, California grant, stipends, and/or other free financial aid than the cost of tuition and books. I received over $60,000 in free money while earning a bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California (USC), after transferring from Long Beach City College (LBCC). And other California community college students who followed my strategies earned more money than the cost of tuition & books too.
After graduating high school I worked in construction for 12 years. When I entered college I didn't know how to add X+X, had never used a computer, and knew almost nothing about Western civilization. I was c.l.u.e.l.e.s.s. But in college I worked hard and immersed myself in the institution - the academics, college administration, and in the 'million' opportunities I call, student success opportunities. These opportunities are not just the obvious ones – scholarships & grants – but opportunities that paid for books & transportation, waived transfer fees & other application fees, provided free tutoring, on campus jobs (priceless), programs that provided scholarships and stipends and assured my transfer to the university, and other opportunities that strengthened my chance of winning scholarships or qualifying for other money. Student success opportunities are on campus & off campus and NONE of the money has to be paid back. So I received over $60,000 in free money, paid nothing or far less for other things, and had an easier time accomplishing it all! As a graduate of LBCC & USC, I leaned how to succeed as a student.
For six years I worked in the California community college system. First as a director's assistant (EOPS) and then as an assistant to a Dean of Counseling and Student Services. I served students, their parents, professors, academic counselors, financial aid officers, records & admissions personnel, department / program directors, other staff, and all levels of college administrators on campuses with more than 20,000 students each. I also served LBCC's President at functions & events as a President's Ambassador. And I studied student success; for the director & dean, I analyzed 'student success indicators' which analyzes how well students were performing in various campus programs. As a graduate student I performed extensive research on our Nation's largest community college systems - how they fared politically and how they are mechanisms to improve social cohesion.
I understand student issues from every angle. I know what works & what doesn’t work, and what California community college students need to know to persevere & succeed in the college and university systems – at a PROFIT.

Bottom line: I received over $60,000 in free money and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from a prestigious university despite graduating from a continuation high school with a D+ average (1.97 GPA). I received a PROFIT – free monies in excess of tuition and books – every semester! I also helped other California community college students achieve a PROFIT. If I can earn a degree, then you can. And, if I can make a PROFIT by earning a degree, then everyone should!
