11. The point of this future value (FV) exercise to so show how differences in earning matter, especially if increased resources are invested in something – anything. The FV calculation assumes that earnings will not change (but they do increase so the $ figures are low) and that the differences are invested at four percent (but most people will spend the surplus $ so this too is not 100% clear).
